Quickly save links for later reading

How do you manage links that you don't have time to read now? I often end up simply bookmarking them, meaning that my bookmarks list looks a complete mess.

Quiet Read is designed to bring some order and logic to storing links for later reading by adding them to your Status Bar. Quiet Read sits in your Menu Bar and allows you to drag links onto the Menu Bar item and store them. Once you've dragged your link to the Quiet Read icon, a number will indicate how many links remain unread. You can read a link simply by clicking on it.

The number doesn't decrease once you've read a link, which is a bit annoying. You have to right-click or CMD-click each link individually to remove them. There's also no way to preview links or tag them which would be useful because the longer your list grows, the less you remember what the links refer to (especially if they are reduced URLs). Note that Quiet Read only works with Snow Leopard.

As a way of keeping better track of your links for later reading, Quiet Read does the job although could definitely be better.

Changes

* Fixes a bug in the "Move to Archive" contextual menu. * Fixes a crash in the Spanish localization. * Quiet Read and Choosy are better friends now. * Adds a contextual menu to the dock icon. * Adds a shortcut (⌥+⌘+F) to set the focus on the search field.

  • Pros

    • Discreet and easy to use
    • Counts your links
  • Cons

    • Links don't decrease when read
    • No way to tag or preview links

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
